FROM BEGINNER TO QUEEN BE(E) — Be Grateful… No Matter What

Our New Life Missions Team returned from Bucaramanga, Colombia, this week where we saw hundreds come to Christ. It was amazing! But I’ll tell you—if I had used the beginning of this excursion to predict it’s outcome, I might have turned around and gone back home.
The adventure started like this:
Something was wrong with the first airplane out of Bogota, so we boarded another. Then, the second plane was having “technical difficulties,” so they bussed us over to yet another one.
Aircraft Numero Tres got us to Bucaramanga airspace, BUT WE COULDN’T LAND! Because of bad weather, we had to go back to Bogota. That’s how the trip began, but God wasn’t caught off guard.
Look, the Creator of all things is going to get His work done. I know that. The enemy knows that, too. But you and I can miss a blessing if the deceiver can mess with our gratitude along the way. Sometimes that’s all he’s trying to do. I’m not having it. How about you?
From minor inconveniences to inconceivably traumatic experiences, how do you respond?
Do you judge the journey based on that rough stretch, or are you thankful for the reality of God’s faithfulness taking you through to the home stretch? Our Father is the comforter of the heartbroken and fixer of all that is broken, so we don’t have to panic—no matter what.

CONSISTENT GRATITUDE comes from

a CONTINUOUS AWARENESS

of GOD’S CONSTANT FAITHFULNESS.

On David’s path from shepherd-boy to ruler-man, King Saul, the mentor David had loved, honored, and served was trying to put a blade through him. His friend was hunting him down. Do you know what David did? He wrote Psalm 34.
“I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. […]O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together. I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” (Psalm 34:1, 3-4, ESV)
Girl, maybe you’re dealing with something full-on terrifying—traumatizing. I’m not trying to compare your situation to my little travel frustrations. I won’t belittle your pain like that. But I do know that God is not at all worried about how He’s going to sort it out. And He loves you. Focus on His complete love and you will rob fear of its control. I am so grateful that we are in His hands, no matter what this life throws at us.
