Last week in “Be Your Own Cheerleader,” we got a winning mindset lesson from David’s playbook. Having a positive attitude is a great place to start, but you can’t stop there if you want to make it to your dream-come-true.
To go from Field of Sheep to Field of Dreams, David had to be all in. Same for you. Whatever your goal, a half-way effort won’t take you all the way.
Lesson #2: Be All In and Fight to Win
The experienced soldiers of Israel were afraid of Goliath, so how was young David so confident when he had never even seen battle?
Because the shepherd’s confidence was not in his strength, his weaponry, or his experience. David stepped up counting on God to keep being God.
“And David said, ‘The LORD who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.’” I Samuel 17:37, ESV
Was David afraid? I can’t say for sure, but I can tell you that whatever you’re marching into, you aren’t walking alone.
Just like David recalled the bear and lion he defeated, you can ask the Holy Spirit to bring your past victories to the forefront of your mind to boost your faith when you face a new trial.
Your FAITH may not decrease your fear, but it will INCREASE your FORTITUDE.
When your knees are knocking, keep advancing.
When your heart is pounding, march to its rhythm.
When your hands are shaking, reach to the One who has the win in His nail-scarred hands.
Be ALL IN AND FIGHT TO WIN knowing the Mighty God of your every moment is in it with you.
Next Week: Be Flexible – Accepting When God Says, “No.”
