Have you been thinking about your Over Time Success Story since last week’s blog? I hope you’ve begun to see the difficulties in your daily grind as Victory Ingredients instead of pointless obstacles. Realizing you are being equipped in each choice, every situation can do wonders toward a positive response in moments of irritation. Winning or falling behind begins in the same spot—your thoughts.
A positive attitude is where positive action gets its orders and positive outcomes become reality.
Let’s grab a mood-booster from David, the Shepherd boy who became King.
Lesson One: Be Your Own Cheering Section
It’s good to surround ourselves with people who cheer us on, but sometimes even our best friends let us down when we need support the most. Sometimes people closest to us are even the cause of our pain.
When David felt beaten down, he didn’t wait for his friends to pick him up. He didn’t base his feelings or behavior on the support he got from others. David lifted his mood by recalling the consistent faithfulness of God, even when people were straight-up out to get him.
“David was greatly distressed, for the men spoke of stoning him […]But David encouraged and strengthened himself in the Lord his God.” (1 Samuel 30:6, AMPC)
In life, we will have those times when it seems everyone has turned against us. In those moments—in every moment, we must turn to God for our strength.
Our greatest encouragement comes from knowing how precious we are to the God who protects, provides, empowers, and emboldens us in calm– and in calamity.
The God of all creation has His eye on you, my friend.
He loves you, and is rooting for you all the way!
